Ferran was formed in 2000 by New York City based designer and creative director Kathryn Ferran Kayajan. A former architectural designer, Kayajan attended the school of the of Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, and Parsons School of Design in NYC. She then worked professionally for the esteemed architectural firm Gensler; inspired by the creative process she formed her own company. Ferran designs are inspired through Kayajan's extensive travels around the globe, her patterns are imagined from places and cultures with a hint to the past, combined with her artisan sensibility, is what gives Ferran its unique style.
